What’s Around?

Healy

Healy is a small town about 15 minutes north of Denali National Park. This is where our employee housing is located along with many others. Residents can easily walk to most of the businesses in town. They can also coordinate a ride with a shuttle driver. The closest options are shown below with their distance from our employee housing.

Denali Park Business District

The Denali Park business district consists of several hotels, restaurants, stores, galleries, and tour operators including our three stores. It is located next to the national park entrance. Many of the tour companies offer discounted tickets for local employees. You can browse the various businesses by clicking the red pin on the map and zooming/scrolling around the area.

Denali National Park

Denali National Park contains 6,000,000 acres of protected wilderness with mountain vistas, wildlife, and North America’s highest peak. Visitors can: explore miles of hiking trails, volunteer to walk sled dogs, pick wild berries, stay overnight in campgrounds, backpack into the wilderness, photograph landscapes and wildlife, and bike the park road. It’s a nature lovers paradise.

Medical

Limited medical services are available in the Denali area. Applicants who require ongoing medical treatment should contact the local clinics shown below to see if they offer the required services. There is a local ambulance for emergency transportation to the nearest hospital in Fairbanks, but there is no option to get to Fairbanks regularly.

Getting to Denali

Employees are responsible for funding and organizing their own transportation to and from Denali for the season. The cheapest and fastest option is to fly into the closest major airport in Fairbanks (FAI) or Anchorage (ANC). The only dependable transportation from the airports to Denali National Park is the Alaska Railroad. These tickets should be booked through us for a 50% discount. Each route only operates one day per week at the beginning and end of the season so you should plan ahead by searching available routes at alaskarailroad.com.

Local Transportation

Our Shuttle

All employees can ride the company shuttle and can request drop off or pickup anywhere between employee housing and the Denali National Park bus depot. The shuttle runs in correlation with the start and end of each scheduled work shift at the stores. Contact the scheduled shuttle driver to plan your ride.

Park Shuttle

Denali National Park offers free shuttles from the bus depot up to 15 miles into the national park. Paid tickets are also available up to 40 miles into the national park. Details and schedules are available here.

Traveling Outside the Denali Area

Taking a trip outside the Denali area will likely require an overnight stay. You can use the Alaska Railroad or the Yukon Trails Shuttle to reach Fairbanks, Talkeetna, Anchorage, and Seward. Contact management for a 50% discount on Alaska Railroad tickets. There are also a few rental cars available in the area from Turo.
